What to Expect from an Assessment
Thinking about an assessment of your manuscript? We are pleased to be able to offer a sample to enable you to make an informed decision. As you can see our goal is to treat writers with attention and care. Our assessments are intensive, detailed and empathetic. Our first task is to pinpoint what you are aiming for and set out a framework. Within that, we set out strengths, intuit underlying themes and identify areas for further development. Assessments offer examples and practical next steps and are supplemented by notations on the manuscript.
Reading Between The Lines
Our assessments are shaped around individual manuscripts and are as individual as the original work. In the example below, the writer already has a clear idea about genre: where writers are still feeling their way, this is likely to be our first port of call.
We aim to pitch our feedback at the most helpful and productive level, taking into account both the work and the current stage of development of the writer. (Writing fiction—handling narrative structure, developing a voice and writing style—is an evolving process for all writers, published and yet to be published.)
The Personal Touch
Our assessments are designed to nurture emerging writers at a critical transitional stage. We are proud of all the writers we have worked with and are always delighted to see them succeed.
