Mentoring packages

The core package
This is for committed writers who already completed a first draft of a novel and are aiming for publication. Our six-stage programme includes a combination of tiered appraisals and consultations and covers every aspect of the writing process - from an analysis of the key elements of successful fiction, structural and technical issues - to presentation skills such as such as preparing a submission package and writing a synopsis.

Writers can commit to a complete programme within an agreed timeframe or take a more flexible approach to fit in with other commitments. (A similar programme is also available via the Apprenticeships scheme.)

Start-Up Mentoring package
If you have recently embarked on writing a novel and would like some support in the early stages, this is the package for you. It offers a framework for completion of your first draft, as well as covering the technical and conceptual tools you will need to get to grips with. There are many potential pitfalls for the first-time writer and this programme is designed to ensure that you are on the right track.

It includes an appraisal of your synopsis and first three chapters, a follow-up consultation, an agreed timetable, and six-weekly check-ins leading up to the completion of the first draft.

[Follow-up option: a full appraisal of your complete first draft]

Stage-One Mentoring Package
Feeling a bit stuck or overwhelmed? This package is aimed at more experienced writers who have already completed a full or partial draft but have run into structural or conceptual difficulties. Two in-depth consultations allow intensive discussion of the work-in-progress in relation to the key elements of successful fiction.

Package includes a full or partial appraisal, initial consultation with recommendations for planning and preparation and a second follow-up consultation 4-6 weeks later.

[Follow-up option: full or partial appraisal of the redraft]

(Please note: Programmes are designed to prepare writers for publication. Whilst we support and advise writers on every aspect of the process we cannot guarantee success.)
